Nestled in the heart of Hampton lies a remarkable playground that reimagines what inclusive play can be – Thomas Street South Reserve. This isn’t just another park; it’s a carefully crafted village waiting to be explored, where every child, regardless of ability, can write their own adventure story.
At its heart stands a majestic 3-level castle, sharing its noble grounds with a beloved timber fort – a 30-year-old testament to community collaboration that still stands proud today.
Our family’s quest for magical playgrounds began during the challenging days of Covid lockdowns, when we were exploring the parks nearby and use those precious windows of freedom.

As Bayside’s first fully inclusive play space, the park breaks down barriers with thoughtful features that ensure no child misses out on the joy of play. The inclusion of wheelchair trampolines brings the exhilarating sensation of bouncing to all children, while accessible flying foxes invite everyone to experience the thrill of soaring through the air. Multiple slides and swings cater to different abilities and ages, ensuring families can play together.
For the musically inclined, a DJ booth adds a contemporary twist to playground fun, letting young artists create their own soundtracks to their adventures. Those seeking physical challenges will find their calling in the parkour course, while the water play area offers refreshing fun during warmer months.
Seniors exercise area is a dedicated space that transforms the traditional concept of exercise into an engaging, social experience for our senior community members. There’s also a circuit walking path offering a 500-metre asphalt walking path around the park and encourages walking for health. Two laps = 1 kilometre.
What sets this park apart isn’t just its impressive array of equipment – it’s the thoughtful way everything has been brought together to create a true community space. The generous green reserve provides perfect picnic spots where families can gather, share meals, and make memories. Modern BBQ facilities invite longer stays and community gatherings, turning simple playground visits into lasting social connections.
